Shop It To Me Baby

GILT, RUELALA, GROUPON, LIVING SOCIAL, BEYOND THE RACK, SHOP IT TO ME.....I can't stand it, I am addicted. I thankfully got over my craigslist addiction not without passing it along to someone else -ahem CSG- and have now found a new obsession. I mean where else can you be emailed once and sometimes twice a day about all the great deals in your area? How many people new that Bruno Mars was going to be playing a secret concert at The Grove? Probably not that many- although now you do.

And the best part is because of the timing that the emails get sent out, I generally wake up every day to notifications about these AMAZING deals. While waking up to 75% off items is exciting, I am always worried I am going to spend, spend, spend in some type of foggy- just woke up- haze.

OPI Gel Manicure

I once again have fallen into the trap of the "latest and greatest" things and so far I am loving it. There is something about getting my nails done that makes me feel good about myself. I don't know if it is the color I choose or the fact that my hands look clean but I have always LOVED manicures. Throughout high school I did the whole acrylic nail deal but after some time that just leaves your nails brittle and disgusting. It wasn't until recently that I discovered OPI Axxium Soak Off Gel Nails. I was a skeptic at first but quickly fell in love. Although there is a light buffing in the beginning, they say that the gel does not hurt your nails.

The best part is the polish does not chip due to the UV light curing process. And for now the only thing I question is putting my hands under UV lights. The second best part is that since it is made by OPI salons carry the gels in all your favorite colors. (Russian Navy, Lincoln Park After Dark, Pink Flamenco, Strawberry Margarita) While this process will set you back a few ($30) buckaroos depending on your salon it lasts 2-3 weeks WITHOUT CHIPS, which I think is well worth it!

Random News Article About Me

So since I am basically one of those people who has to google everything, I decided to google myself. I figured a few things would come up regarding facebook, twitter, linkedin, the usual. But to my surprise I found an article in the Orange Country Register with my name on it. And after reading it twice, I still have no idea why I was mentioned. Weird. Check it out anyways.

Police Activity

So I didn't get to tell everyone my babysitting saga but to make a long story short after my first night out of 4 nights of babysitting the police showed up to inform me of some illegal activity that was taking place with the kid I was sitting the night before. When I say illegal activity, I really mean illegal activity, people were arrested, not me.

I thought that would be my last run in with the cops but boy was I wrong. After leaving a delicious dinner at the Summer House in Corona Del Mar, Bill and I were rear ended. The woman refused to give us her information and then took off which lead us on a high speed chase around Laguna Niguel. While on the phone with 911, we followed her into a neighborhood, trapped her and waited for the police to arrive. She apparently was not drunk but claimed she was "intimidated and scared." We essentially wasted an hour with FOUR police men and K9 dogs when all we wanted was to exchange information with her. No injuries to report, no damage to the car except a smashed in license plate.

Rasta Taco

RASTA TACO- Jason

All us Southern Californian's know that food trucks are all the rage. If you were a New Yorker a food truck would be something of the norm and you would pass by without even taking a glance. Here in SoCal food trucks have become so popular that specialty stores such as Sprinkles and Kogi Tacos have opened up their own.

While deciding what I kind of food I wanted for my graduation party, I stumbled across Rasta Taco which is a Jamaican/Mexican fushion. After a few phone calls back and forth, Rasta was set to come to my July 3rd party. They bring everything from napkins, forks and knives, to salsa and guacamole. And they bring their own "cart" to cook on. Their extensive menu is broken down into how many guests you are having. Generally, you get two- three choices of meats such as chicken, steak or carnitas and since the tacos are small, Rasta suggests that a person can eat between 6 and 9 tacos. Rasta was such a hit and the food was absolutely delicious.

Jamaica

Just got back from a weekender to Jamaica. Although it rained everyday- because I really do bring the rain, it was nice to get away. What I was getting away from I don't know because I did just get home from Greece and Turkey but another quick trip was nice. Zakari and his cousin Nolan and I flew from Philly- Jamaica on Friday for Zak's grand parents 80th birthday party.

This trip seemed to be way different then our first trip to Jamaica in January. I felt more comfortable with the environment, people and my surroundings. It isn't easy being thrown into a situation where you are clearly the minority and half the time do not understand the people around you. However, this time I felt more connected to them then I ever have.
